This unit is the first of the two foundational units on the study of human geography. It is designed to help students develop solid basic knowledge and understanding of various aspects and theories of human geography. Topics covered include, the roots and meaning of culture, population and migration processes and effects, agriculture and rural land use, economic geography, economic development and change, and human effects on the environment.
