Unit Title: Fundamentals of computing studies

This unit introduces students to the fundamentals of computing studies. It covers a range of topics which include, the general scope of computers, computer viruses and security, basic computer maintenance, introduction to the internet, the World Wide Web (WWW), computer networks, wired (LAN) & wireless communication, privacy, and crime, and network security issues. It is anticipated that upon completing this study, students will be able to interact effectively with the computer system, know the uses of basic components of computers, manage computer system configuration, understand computer network and how it works, including information communication, local area network, and wide area network, and finally understand basic things about the internet and their usage.
